The Wolsztyn Experience is a British company operating in tandem with a charitable trust which has been established in western Poland, near the German border. The small, picturesque town of Wolsztyn is the center of a "museum" railroad operated as part of the PKP, the national railroad system of Poland. Wolsztyn is one of several towns in the area where a roundhouse and maintenance facilities are maintained for steam locomotives. Wolsztyn Experience, PLC, capitalized by a group of British individuals, assists the Polish railway system support the added cost of operating steam locomotives on regular scheduled passenger and freight service in the area. This partnership is beneficial to the town of Wolsztyn and the surrounding region, because it is very famous among European rail enthusiasts and draws a lot of tourists. This is literally the last steam-hauled mainline train service in Europe and among the last in the world. Wolsztyn Experience provides financial assistance to support this attraction by providing driving courses to individuals in conjunction with its regular passenger and freight service. This is an unparalleled experience. Students actually experience on-the-job training under master "machinists" (engineers and firemen) in a scheduled rail environment. This is not a preserved railway. It is scheduled mainline service and you spend the majority of the time sitting in the right-hand seat under the careful guidance of the engineer. Click here for more information about The Wolsztyn Experience. What Role does Rannoch Play? Quite a lot, actually. Rannoch is a U.S. corporation dedicated to promoting knowledge of steam locomotive restoration, care and operation in America. Because it is difficult for individuals in the U.S. to get steam locomotive training for any price, much less at a reasonable price, Rannoch has searched out and established agency relations with Wolsztyn Experience. We provide reservation service, travel assistance, insurance (optional for U.S. citizens), and we handle all currency conversion.
